This blog is produced by the University of Arkansas Applied Broiler Research Farm.  The farm is a contract grower for a poultry integrator and is similar to family poultry farms all over the United States.  The farm is made up of four broiler houses.  Each house holds 20,000 birds which are raised to a target weight of 5.5 pounds.  Five to six flocks are produced per year.

The farm conducts research in energy and environmental conservation, water quality, animal behavior and poultry production.  In addition, it serves as a training ground for graduate and undergraduate students in the Poultry Science Department.  Laboratories for the Poultry Production class are taught on the farm.  We also host industry training seminars.
